Welcome friends, family, and interested future clients! In addition to the blessing of being a wife and mother, I also love to teach psychology at Bethel College. However, I am a creative person, and I HAVE to shoot photos sometimes! Shooting is a part of me, like my father, stepbrother, and uncle-in-law before me. A six hour wedding photo shoot feels like an hour to me. Thirty minutes taking photos of an infant feels like five minutes. My natural inclination to be introverted and stay out of the limelight works well for my style of photography. I am not the kind of photographer who uses the words "say cheese" often! The current term for my overall style is the "photojournalist" style, which basically means that if I am shooting an event, like a wedding, I will stay out of the way and try to capture the story naturally, much like a photographer who works for a newspaper does. As such, my images (other than requested formal photos) look and feel different from many other photographers. I like to shoot all types of things, but as you'll see on my website, my specialty is people. I will crawl around the ground, chase kids around, stand on ladders or do whatever I have to in order to follow the natural progression of events, letting the client be himself or herself (although there might be some attempts to get them to laugh naturally). It is my experience that you can try as you might to set up the "perfect" shot, but usually the best pictures are those that just happen. I just have to make sure I am open to the experience at the time and am ready to get the camera to my eye quickly. I always ask my clients what they have in mind for the look and feel of their photos (such as to ask them to look at other websites and give me some examples of what they like) and attempt to get that for my clients. However, my style in general is flexible and natural to capture people's personalities without photographer provided "props." If you like my work and would like me to photograph you, your family, or for your organization, I recommend you take a look at my rates and the Questions page before emailing or calling me. Peace,
